How did Kristina get her heroic moniker, “Crush”? Did she mangle a semitrailer in front of a TV camera? Do commercials for Orange Crush soda? (Monochrome uniform, of course.) Called herself "Crash" in a Valley accent that sounded like Crush? Her PR firm hired a not-too-swift naming agency? Flirted once too often with Gabriel, who complained, “Your crush, I don’t care?” Opened the dictionary and pointed blindly to a word?
The Original origins was that after drinking her magic potion, and one Spider-man "sleep-it-off" night, she was hit by a run-away semi truck and was crushed in the process. She on the other hand, was perfectly fine. After some rebrainstorming, and decided to go with a slower incline, she begins accidentally breaking stuff. Kristina does learn how to control her strength, but many things were..yeah. She eventually picked the name "Crush" because "_Something_Meaning_Strength_" + "Girl/Gal/Female name" is as she would say it "Totally Stupid."
I think I follow both explanations:
1. She was run over by a semi but wasn't crushed, and decided that was her theme.
2. On reboot, as she experimented with her strength, she kept crushing things, and decided she'd use Crush as a reminder of her struggle to learn control -- and it's a not-so-subtle reminder to the world that she's a brick without using a formulaic name.
Some day maybe you'll give us a three or five page story out of no. 2?
